Knowledge By Acceptance, 2nd Ed. (2019)
This second edition of Knowledge By Acceptance first appeared in 2019 as a podcast, Plato’s Projects with James Graf. Although its main output, its six-condition No Unacceptable Element analysis of knowledge, is unchanged, peripheral sections and arguments have been expanded and improved. This is the edition to read for anyone wishing to encounter the argument of Knowledge By Acceptance in its mature form.
The book, like its 2016 first edition, presents a novel analysis of knowledge-a list of conditions that, when met, indicate that a person knows something rather than merely believing it. The Unacceptable Element-Free analysis of knowledge it proposes seems to overcome the problems that have plagued such theories to date, known as the Gettier problems.
